We visited Tunis during the month of March 2018. We were pleasantly greeted by the Orange blossoms season with the scent of citrus throughout the city. We stayed at Sidi Bou area which is full of white and blue coloured houses and is 20kms from Tunis. These houses resemble the Greek islands. On the time left on the first day, we visited Carthage ruins which is very close to Sidi bou. Next day we visited Dougga to see the Roman ruins, a temple similar to Acropolis or the Temple of Jupiter in Lebanon. We spent quite a time here and on the way stopped near an Olive farm to pick up fresh organic oil :). There is also Roman Coliseum which is very well maintained in El Jem. We found replicas of the Coliseum here and also picked up few Desert rose stones from the Sahara which are sold as souvenirs.
Souks of Tunisia are very colourful with all kind of Arabic lanterns, the natural desert roses. We took every opportunity to explore at all the places. We visited them in Tunis, Nabeul and Sousse. We also picked up a big ceramic vase Mediterranean design from Nabeul which is famous for Ceramics. Last couple of days we spent in Hammamet resort which was well known for Thalassotherapy. Here the sea water is heated at certain temperatures in the pool as it offers some therapeutic effect to overall well being for the humans. We stayed in a resort named Hasdrubal Thalassa and Spa Yasmine Hammamet which I believe also housed Mr. Gaddafi regularly in a suite room.
