The Last Shangri-La (Bhutan) located in the Himalayas has stunning scenery all around. The entire valley is peace loving and very silent with the Himalayan streams flowing all over. We made a road trip from West Bengal (Jalpaiguri) to Bhutan via Phuentosling where you can apply for permit and then proceed. After a long journey of 7+ hours we arrived at Thimphu a very calm place. We visited various Buddhist monasteries called the Dzong. We very lucky to hear the buddhist chants and feel the energy around in one of the monastery. From Thimphu we visited Paro which has one of the smallest airport in the world. I understand only Druk Air, the local airline is permitted in Bhutan. On the way we spotted Tiger Monastery from a distance. One needs a complete day to trek to this place and unfortunately we didnt have much time as Gangtok was waiting for us.
Try out the famous spicy Ema Datsi with full of Yak Cheese. Bhutan is full of Indian restaurants and Indian products that you hardly miss anything, so one can as well plan a long visit to this Kingdom.
