We arrived in Reykjavik for a 4 day trip, the city where two tectonic plates meet. We happen to fly into Paris and then to Copenhagen and finally to Reykjavik. The trip from airport to our hotel felt as if we were on the Moon's Crater as we were going through the lava fields. In fact if you anywhere you find couple of trees, people term it as a forest. There is lot of geothermal activity here so there is plenty to see including the tectonic ridge where you can see the drift between 2 continents increasing.
We visited the Blue lagoons for thermal bath. This place had become quite famous during the Volcanic ash incident as the airspace was disturbed and people stranded were being offered discounted rates to the Lagoon to de-stress. Post this we visited the Geysirs. The tallest Geysir erupts every few minutes and it was fun to record the video. One could smell sulphur every where around this place along with the smoke from the mountains. We also saw couple of dormant volcanoes around. We also made a visit to Gullfoss falls which is water from the Glaciers and also the famous Skogafoss waterfalls. one can go as close to the Skogafoss to take those lovely pictures but the weather being very chilled we could only go to certain extent.
Finally we went to Glacier lagoon made famous by the James Bond movie. We took a boat going very up close to the glaciers. Our guide picked up a piece of ice from water and handed it as a Souvenir to my son :). Key souvenirs from this place are woollen made.
