We made a trip to celebrate new year in Spain the land of Don Quixote. We flew from Lisbon to Barcelona to being our journey. After the check in to a hotel near la Ramblas the main centre of BCN, we went over to Sagrada Familia, one of the Gaudi creation still unfinished though. The facade of this Roman Catholic church is way too amazing. Plenty of tourists around this place. Post the church, we made our way to the official place of FC Barcelona, Camp Nou. We had bought in the tickets online for the entry to the Stadium. Though there was no match on that day we wanted to explore the stadium. Inside the premises, we could all the cups won the team and the official Souvenirs. We picked up a Messi written T-shirt for our son from here. In the evening, it was the Sangria the drink plus the Paellas, the Spanish Biryani :). We also took time to hop into one of the bar to try the Tapas on the La Ramblas street. To explore food and shopping, one neednt go beyong the La Ramblas street. Next day morning was reserved for the Barcelona Cathedral and then on to Park Guell to see the various Gaudi Creations. We took a guided tour of this place. Some of the creations using cermaics was way beyond our imagination. We returned to ur base in the evening and continued with Tapas and Paellas.
On the 31st of December morning, we rented out car and travelled to one of the Catalonian Medieval village named Peratallada around 200 Kms from Barcelona. A silent, sleepy village with all stone based houses was a unique experience. We could only hear ourselves here :). We spent quite a time walking through all the lanes of this beautiful village. Next day early morning, we had a morning walk through the Olive farms and later on the in noon made a quick halt at Costa Brava for some beach experience of the Mediterranean sea.
Final day was reserved for some cooking experience of the Spanish food. We learnt couple of Tapas, the Shangria drink and a Seafood Paella before saying bye to Spain. I must also mention one has to be lucky to get the right place for Paella experience as my attempts at couple of other restaurants was not so good.
