Finally to the land of the ancient civilization. We flew into Cairo from Mumbai via Egypt Air. We rested for the evening in Cairo and then the next day went to Giza, which is roughly around 30 kms from Cairo. We took a Camel ride around the pyramids along with plenty of photo stops near Sphinx and Pyramids. Post Giza, we headed towards a restaurant to try out Mediterranean food. On the way we also brought some local floral oils in decorative bottles which Egypt is very famous for. In the evening we went to Khan e Khalil Market which is famous for all kind of souvenirs including the Papyrus paintings, Pharaohs and Pyramid replicas etc. Plenty of variety around this largest open market. We also brought local jackets for ourselves from this market. On the Papyrus part, one needs to be careful for fake ones and probably go for licensed shop. Next day we headed towards Suez Canal which is 100+ kms and then in the evening towards Cairo Museum to have a look at the Mummies and Tutankhamen bust. You can spend plenty of time here. All around the city you will find Hookah bar and Hibiscus tea. Hibiscus tea is very easy to prepare where in they put the flower leaf in glass and pour hot water on it. One of the key thing in Egypt is to learn the art of bargaining and you will realise why I say so during your visit :).

We booked a 3 day Nile cruise. We had to take an overnight train from Cairo Luxor and then get started with the tour. We had few friendly Chinese people who had come over from Uganda and joined us in this trip. The Nile cruise was from Luxor to Aswan. On the way we visited Luxor temples and Karnak temple. We enjoyed the local food on the cruise. Nile Perch and Umm Ali are must try in Egyptian food. Finally we were back in Cairo after 3 days. On our final day, we visited Alexandria via Turbo train to see Greco-Roman ruins. It is a beautiful city. The government has built a Citadel at the location of Lighthouse of Alexandria which was an ancient wonder of the world and was destroyed in an earthquake. There is also another ancient wonder of the world called the Katacombs. Unfortunately no pictures are allowed over there and you don't find them on my site either. Thank you Egypt for an wonderful experience.
