My Trip Souvenirs
We visited the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal for a 5 day visit. We travelled to Kathmandu and Pokhara. In Kathmandu, we had booked in Thamel area which is very touristy with all kind of tourist shops, restaurants etc. We first visited the Durbar square for all the Hindu temples and also a visit to see the living Goddess, Kumari. In the evening we visited the Swayambhunath, Pashupathinath and Bodhnath temple. Bodhnath is a Buddhist temple where we came across the Tibetian chants of 'Om Mani Padme Hum' and instantly brought the audio CD. Pashupathinath is a gorgeous Shiva temple. We collected Saligram rock near this temple as a souvenir. Swayambhunath is a steep trek via the steps but worth it as you get to see clear Himalayan ranges on a non-cloudy day.
We took a mountain flight next day early morning to see the entire Himalayan ranges including Everest, Kailash Parbhat etc. This is one hour trip and depends on the climate conditions. We happen to see the complete ranges from our seat and also got an opportunity to enter the cockpit. Yes Cockpit !!. Through out our trip, we enjoyed the Gorkha Thakali aka. Thali. Very spicy food with plenty of ginger and garlic to keep the body warm in the valley. A must try in this is the radish pickle.
Post Kathmandu we flew to Pokhara and again a good opportunity to view the ranges from the top. Pokhara is small and a cute town with the imposing Annapurna range. We made an early trip to catch the sunrise in Sagarkot across the Annapurna for a mind blowing experience with nature at its best.
Post Pokhara we travelled to India by road for our trip to Agra.
