We had been planning Myanmar for quite some time as it is very important to visit in the right weather conditions as it can get too hot there. We visited Yangon and Bagan in January 2017 and indeed it was pleasant climate. We flew into Yangon. Yangon has plenty of Buddhist pagodas. We visited the famous and magnificent Shwedagon pagoda both during the day time and night. We spent quality time in this complex visiting various shrines and meeting few monks along. In the afternoon we visited the Bogyoke or Scott Market for souvenirs. This is quite a large complex with all kind of souvenirs including Buddha paintings, replicas, Buddha sculptures made of Burma teak, Paper umbrellas, Jade and the famous Burmese Ruby. We got a set of Buddhist monks replica made of Burmese teak as a souvenir along with few large paintings. We visited Chaut Ka Jhi temple and the place where the Myanmar leader was house arrested for a long time. Plenty of Thai and Burmese restaurants all around Yangon. As we are fond of Thai food, this trip was totally on Thai so unfortunately couldn't get much time on the Burmese food. We also made an early morning visit to one of the monastery to catch up with the monks and see them lined up for the morning Alms. Indeed quite an experience walking along with them and at their pace. It is common to see women in Myanmar apply Thanaka paste to keep the skin moist through out the day and as evident in the pictures.

Next stop via a local flight was Bagan. Bagan has plenty of ancient pagodas probably around 2000 plus. We visited quite a few of these like the Ananda temple, Mahabodhi etc. Next day we made a balloon ride in Bagan so as to get the birds views of the all the temples at sun rise. This indeed was the ride of our life and pleasant new experience. It is an expensive one with around $300 on the pocket but worth every penny. A souvenir certificate at the end of the trip is provided to all. We also had a sunset trip climbing one of the pagodas.
